What the Number Cannot Tell You Alone
The reported result is real.
What is it actually worth?
Before anyone adjusts earnings, prices risk or defends a multiple, three different questions need evidence.
Can the company produce it again?
Would the economics survive the next customer, a management departure or a change in ownership— or do they depend on decisions nobody can reconstruct?
Is the cost actually avoidable?
A completed-work contribution gap may be documented without being recoverable, recurring or eligible for an EBITDA adjustment.
What can a buyer legitimately price?
Does the evidence support sustainable earnings, transaction protection, more investigation— or no adjustment at all?
A financial difference is not automatically a structural loss. A structural finding is not automatically an EBITDA add-back. And neither automatically changes enterprise value.
